How Hexadecimal Works

Hexadecimal (or hex) is an alternative numbering system.  Rather than counting in twos or ten, sixteen numbers or characters are used.  Hex starts at 0 and goes all the way up to F.

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B C D E F

Each hexadecimal digit actually represents four binary digits.

    I’m still confused, why is the 1 in the 16 column? and what are the 10 through 19 #’s? need help please

    0 to 9 in hex is easy to follow. We just have memorize. That A=10. B=11 C=12 D=13 E=14 and F=150

    I must admit that though I’m well versed in the understanding of binary and dotted decimal but I think it would tremendously helpful to post a DEC to Binary to HEX chart for just Decimals 1 through 256. I’ll take the time to put one together this weekend on one page so I can learn the pattern to calculate HEX. Who knows if it wil be on the test but knowing HEX conversions is something I want to know. :)
